Become a Fly Fisher
Join us in this 10 week course to build your own fly fishing rod and then embark out on a day at the creek to use your newly made rod.
During this course you will:
- build your rod
- get a reel and line
- learn to tie your own flies
- identify common aquatic insects
- learn how to cast
- learn terminology
- learn how to fish flat and moving waters
- tie knots
- learn how to leave no trace
- learn fish species
We will meet Thursdays, 2 April through 11 June for both indoor and outdoor instructions. Class times will be 5:00 PM to 7:30 PM. Saturday, 13 June we will meet up for our day at the creek to put everything you have learned into practice. During the outdoor instructions, please bring appropriate comfortable clothing.
You will need to purchase a SD Fishing License. Licenses can be purchase at Outdoor Rec.
Some additional items to bring include: tall rubber boots, sandals, or waders.
